The University is monitoring the global spread of the COVID-19. The coronavirus COVID-19 which originated in Wuhan, China has caused outbreaks of respiratory disease in numerous countries,
including Malaysia. At this time, there are no confirmed cases of novel
coronavirus on any USM campus. University leaders are committed to ensuring the health and
safety of the students, faculty, and staff. They are working as quickly as
possible to respond to all issues.
The symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, and
shortness of breath. Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19
is spreading in your community.

- Avoid close contact with people who are unwell or showing symptoms of illness.
- Observe good personal hygiene and do not share personal items.
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. (e.g. before handling food or eating, after going to toilet, or when hands are dirtied by respiratory secretions after coughing or sneezing);
- Wear a mask if you have respiratory symptoms such as a cough or shortness of breath.
- Cover your mouth with a tissue paper when coughing or sneezing, and dispose the soiled tissue paper in the rubbish bin immediately; and
- Seek medical attention promptly if you are feeling unwell.
As a precautionary measure to keep staff and patients safe.
