Datuk Prof. Dr. Asma Ismail - New Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia.

            

Congratulations Datuk Prof. Dr. Asma Ismail. Welcome back to Universiti Sains Malaysia. Datuk Prof. Dr. Asma Ismail was the USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor in the field of research and innovation in 2008. Datuk Prof. Dr. Asma Ismail has been named the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) with effect from 4th October, 2016 until  3rd October, 2019. The announcement was made by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh on thursday, 29th September 2016. 

Datuk Prof Dr Asma’s appointment makes her the first female vice-chancellor of USM.  Previously she was the vice-chancellor of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) since December 2012.
Datuk Prof Dr Asma takes over from Datuk Prof Dr Omar Osman who served as USM vice-chancellor for five years from September 28, 2011 to September 27 this year.
