Our Trip To Perhentian Island.

The word Perhentian means the place to stop, Pulau Perhentian are popular with their crystal clear water and magnificent marine life. These island is located 21 km off coast of Terengganu, Peninsular Malaysia that attracts thousands of tourists every year especially on public holidays or peak season in June, July and August.

With a small group of friends from Hospital USM, Kubang Kerian Kelantan...  Eddy, Achmed, Khai, Tofiq and myself visited Pulau Perhentian from 28-30 September 2018. From HUSM Kubang Kerian to Kuala Besut jetty, we took appoximately 40 minutes by car.

There are two types of boat ride to the island:
1. It takes about ¾ hours by speed boat.
2. 1½ hours by longtail boat from the Jetty.

Pulau Perhentian is located at far northern of Terengganu and is bordering with the neighbouring state, Kelantan. Pulau Perhentian is about 19km from Kuala Besut Jetty and 58km from Kota Bharu. The only accessible point to Pulau Perhentian is through the jetty in Kuala Besut, a small Terengganu fishing village.

As the departure point for boats to Pulau Perhentian. There are many tour operators that we can choose for getting to Pulau Perhentian. Small shops selling souvenirs are also available around the jetty.

The beach is clean & the water was as clear as mineral water... the crystal clear sea water will enable us to see the marine life by using snorkle with visibility up to 40 meter in a clear and calm day. Snorkel is a breathing device consisting of a bent tube fitting into a swimmer's mouth and extending above the surface. It allows us to breathe while face down in the water.

One of the boatman was trying to help
us get good pictures at turtle point

Perhentian Resort is an ideal beach resort for a leisurely vacation in Malaysia. Surrounded by lush greenery, facing white sandy beaches and a warm blue sea. Our chalet room located just by the beach... really enjoyed the sea breeze and the sound of the waves. The beach at this resort is fantastic as well.

The buffet food was great..... and everything was still hot and there was plenty of everything. Our server was very friendly and took good care of us. Thanks... for the very good service and the very good food.

There are many popular snorkelling spots around Perhentian Islands. We were brought by boatman to 3 snorkelling points among them are turtle point and shark point. We enjoyed looking at the turtles, sharks, colourful fishes and other marine life as we snorkelled on 3 different locations of the islands. Snorkelling experience might be different from one spot to another and each spot has its own identity and speciality.

Our final destination was a visit to Lata Air Berani which had a fresh water pool where we came to bathe. It was really refreshing as we poured bucket after bucket of cold water over our bodies. After the cleansing ritual, we headed back to the resort.

At the resort also have a swimming pool which is a plus point compared to other resorts. We could swim in the pool after every trip to the beach..
