This year 2017, The International Council
of Nurses (ICN) has chosen the theme, Nurses: A Voice to Lead, Achieving the
Sustainable Development Goals.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish A Very Happy Nurses Day to all nurses at HUSM and all around the world. I also would like to acknowledge and thank you all for your strength, commitment, kindness and care you provide to the patients and their families.
The video below gives us a snapshot of why
the world needs nurses. Nursing is possibly one of the most important
professions in the world. Yet, nurses continue to be undervalued by so many peoples. Hopefully this inspirational video will throw a new light on this wonderful profession.

When you become a nurse, you take the
responsibility of caring for the patients 365 days per year. People sometime
get sick on the holidays..... same as any other day. No one wants to work on the
happiest day of the year. If it wasn't for the nurses who sacrifice their time
and their holiday, the patients would not get the care they need.
In
many ways, nurses are the unsung heroes of healthcare most of the time. May all the care and kindness you give to
others come back to warm your heart.
